AD&P
The objective of this redesign of Automotive Design and Production magazine was to design the layout and content to be easily gleaned by today’s readers, most of whom are over-committed and time strapped. Therefore, the content is served up buffet style — allowing readers to spend 2 minutes or 2 hours and come away with insight, information and inspiration.
Another objective was to establish AD&P as the “go to” magazine, a force for change, the expert and authority in this Detroit-centric industry. To accomplish this the content threads highlight AD&P’s understanding of the interconnectedness of this industry across design, technology and engineering.
The challenge of the project was to create a unique “space” and experience specific to print. Capitalize on the rich history of print - the essence of which is to simply tell a story. Reading requires more thought, imagination and interpretation than TV or web and the experience is more intimate, personal and portable. The reader controls the pace, the order, the experience.
